Avalon, Wisconsin Foot Golf | Prairie Woods Golf Course

The First Footgolf Course in the Area is Open!

What is FootGolf?

FootGolf is great family sport that is affordable and combines the best of the popular sport of soccer with the elite sport of golf.

FootGolf doesn't take all day to play - a round of 18 holes typically takes around 2 hours - and gives you a chance to get exercise while enjoying the wonderful weather.

Similar to golf, the challenge is for players to kick a soccer ball into an oversized cup with the least amount of kicks possible.

FootGolf uses the basic model of golf, with a tee box, a green, bunkers, hazards and 18 holes of play. The FootGolf Course does not use regular golf greens but has its own that are cut into the fairways and roughs. There is a par for each hole, mimicking golf's scorecard.

The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf. Unlike golf, there is no need to lug around heavy golf clubs - just a soccer ball!

The game is played with a regulation #5 soccer ball at a golf course facility on shortened holes with 21-inch diameter cups. Most people bring their own soccer ball but rentals are available in the golf shop.

It generally take about two hours to play 18-holes. The professional dress code for FootGolf is a collared shirt, knickers, argyle socks and a Hogan cap but feel free to wear traditional golf attire. The preferred footwear is indoor soccer shoes, golf shoes or tennis shoes.

FootGolf originated in the Netherlands and has spread to over 16 countries throughout the world and is becoming very popular in the United States. Prairie Woods is the first golf course in the Janesville Area to house Footgolf. So come out and try this new sport. We're sure you will enjoy it.
